Scrum Ceremonies – Daily Stand-up Meeting

Every morning at the same time, the team meets to bring everyone up to date on the information that is vital for coordination: each team members briefly describes any “completed” contributions and any obstacles that stand in their way.

Usually at the stand-up Agile expects everyone in the team to answer three questions:

1.What did I do yesterday?

2.What will I do today?

3.What will obstruct my ability to progress?

The daily stand-up is normally timeboxed to a maximum duration of 15 minutes. To keep the meeting short, any topic that starts a discussion is cut short and taken ‘off line’ to be discussed in greater depth after the meeting.

The 7 keys to stand-up meeting success:

1.The stand-up is NOT a status or progress meeting

2.The stand-up is NOT for micro-management

3.The stand-up IS for the whole team

4.The stand-up is NOT a planning meeting

5.The stand-up is NOT a technical meeting

6.The stand-up ALWAYS asks the same three questions

7.The stand-up IS held close to the work
